BICSI is a professional association that provides information and education about the information technology systems (ITS) industry. ITS encompasses voice, data, and electronic safety, security and infrastructure, as well as audio and visual technologies.
BICSI gives courses, conferences, and releases publications to assist ITS professionals and support the ITS industry.
Their new standard, ANSI/BICSI 005-2013, Electronic Safety and Security (ESS) System Design and Implementation Best Practices, provides requirements and recommendations for the structured cabling infrastructure that supports security systems. This standard addresses the need for literature to support the increasing complexity of the relationship between security and communication systems, and cabling infrastructure.
“BICSI 005 is a tremendous resource for those working on the design and implementation of electronic safety and security and related infrastructure. This standard, like all BICSI standards, establishes best practices for the supporting infrastructure for a variety of security functions and systems,” says Jerry Bowman, president of BICSI.
Activo is a BISCI member. Two of our team members have earned the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) designation from the organization. This means that they are recognized experts in the design, implementation, and integration of ITS and the supporting infrastructure.
